Overview

Quintex has worked with a variety of hotels across the UK, tailoring our energy-saving solutions to fit their unique needs. In this case study, we’ll showcase two different sized hotels, so you can better understand how the Cheetah system can create significant energy savings, regardless of scale.

Mercure Bridgwater: Efficiency in Action

At the Mercure Bridgwater, the kitchen ventilation system includes two 3kW extract and a supply fans. Before Cheetah, these fans ran for 22 hours a day, 7 days a week, consuming just over 39,000 kWh annually. After implementing our Cheetah system, we reduced fan energy consumption by 46%, bringing their annual usage down to 21,000 kWh. This results in savings of 18,000 kWh every year – a significant reduction for a hotel of this size.

Each year we’re projected to save Mercure Bridgwater;

17,944 kWh saved
4 Tonnes of CO2 saved
£4,486 Pounds saved
19 months Return on investment
46% Fan energy reduction

InterContinental Edinburgh the George: Reducing Energy on a Larger Scale

On the opposite end of the scale, InterContinental Edinburgh the George operates with much larger extract and supply fans, rated at 18kW and 11kW respectively. These powerful fans operate around the clock, 24/7, consuming 254,000 kWh annually. Before installing Cheetah, the hotel was spending approximately £33,000 per year to keep these fans running at full speed. After Cheetah, they’ve reduced their
energy consumption by 108,000 kWh, bringing their annual usage down to 146,000 kWh. This adjustment not only saves them energy but also cuts costs by £19,000 each year.

Since Cheetah was installed in 2020, we have saved InterContinental Edinburgh the George;

450,818 kWh saved
101 Tonnes of CO2 saved
£58,606 Pounds saved
4 months Return on investment
43% Fan energy reduction

Regardless of your hotel’s scale, these two examples demonstrate the versatility and effectiveness of the Cheetah system. Whether for a mid-sized venue or a larger property, the system delivers measurable reductions in energy consumption and significant cost savings.
